United States defender Naomi Girma has officially joined Chelsea for a record-breaking price.

The Women's Super League champions presented the 24-year-old on the field on Sunday prior to their match versus Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

She reportedly costs £900,000 to arrive from San Diego Wave, surpassing the current record of £215,000 paid by Bay FC for Racheal Kundananji in February 2024.

Girma is the first million-dollar move in women's sports, costing 1.1 million US dollars, after the Blues defeated Lyon of France.

"I'm so happy and really excited to be here," she said on Chelsea's website. I can't believe it.
