24 KILLED IN ZIMBABWE BUS-TRUCK COLLISION
In Zimbabwe, 24 persons were killed in a head-on collision between a vehicle and a bus.
The tragedy occurred on Thursday, February 13, 2025, close to Beitbridge, a town on the southern border with South Africa, according to police spokesperson Paul Nyathi.
There were 65 people aboard the bus as it made its way from Harare, the capital, to Beitbridge.
According to Nyathi, initial inquiries showed that the bus struck the haulage truck while attempting to pass another car.
Seven individuals died from head injuries at a Beitbridge hospital, while 17 people perished at the scene of the accident, according to a government medical officer in Beitbridge who was reported by the State-run Herald newspaper.
Thirty more people were hurt and in the hospital, according to the publication. According to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, he was appalled and devastated.
