In order to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the inexplicable death of Nigerian football player Abubakar Lawal in Uganda, the Nigerian Federation sought a complete autopsy and inquiry.
On Tuesday, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, called the situation "pathetic and suspicious," emphasizing the necessity for a comprehensive inquiry into the tragic event.
Dabiri-Erewa in a statement said “This is pathetic and appears suspicious. We demand a thorough investigation. No cover-up at all. This is so sad!
“The Nigerian government will ensure and demand a thorough and transparent investigation. May his soul rest in peace and God give the family the fortitude to bear this loss.”, she said.
The circumstances surrounding the untimely death of Lawal, a professional football player of Vipers Sports Club, who was said to have fallen from the third floor of Voicemall Shopping Arcade on the morning of February 24, 2025, are being looked into by the Kajjansi Police Division in Uganda.
