Meghan Markle's Character And The Duchess' Animation Have "Striking Similarities," Writer Claims

A writer claims that Meghan Markle's character and the Duchess' animation have "striking similarities," leading to accusations that she plagiarized the British author's book series for a feminist Netflix series.

British novelist revealed she had submitted a legal letter pointing out what she saw as "striking similarities" between Meghan's debut children's TV show and her own work.

Mel Elliott, a 51-year-old Hastings native  has now revealed that she issued a legal letter implying that her own invention, a little British girl named Pearl Power, might have violated copyright.

Then came two more personal letters from the author and illustrator.

Mel stated last night: "I was disappointed and perplexed to see how similar Netflix's proposed show "Pearl" was to my own Pearl Power, which had been created seven years earlier. Meghan is a feminist who advocates for other women."

I can't tell if anyone on her team had seen it and been moved by it, of course, but I couldn't help but notice the similarities. she said 

The world of arts and media are very competitive and I'm afraid it's quite common for powerful to people to rip off the work of less well-known creatives - although I'm not saying that's what happened here. she said 

'What saddened me most is that, having brought the similarities between my Pearl and Meghan's Pearl to the attention of Netflix and Archewell, my objection was never acknowledged - neither Netflix nor Archewell responded to me when I would have loved to have contributed and collaborated.'
